Ingredients

Method

  1. MashMash two-thirds of the beans in a bowl, leaving some whole for texture. Stir in the oats, onion, garlic, tomato paste, soy sauce and spices.

  2. RestShape into four patties and chill 20 minutes so the oats absorb moisture.

  3. CookCook in the oil in a skillet over medium heat 5 to 6 minutes per side until crisp and heated through.

  4. ServeToast the buns and build with lettuce, tomato and avocado.

Editor’s tip. Pat the beans dry after draining. Wet beans make a mushy patty that falls apart.
